I have a criminal past. Will this make it impossible to find a safe place to live?

No! We have a large selection of second chance apartments that consider and accept tenants with various types of misdemeanors, like DWI, drug, and theft charges. Every apartment community has their own criteria for accepting new tenants with felony issues. However most will consider other non-violent crimes on a case by case basis after one to two years. Some assault misdemeanors may be accepted after five years, on a case by case basis.

I was evicted from my last apartment. Does that matter?

An eviction will certainly appear on your financial background and credit check. Generally speaking, the older the eviction the better. We do have a few properties that will accept an eviction less than one year old but will charge two months’ rent as deposit, plus the first month’s payment.

What if I have more than one eviction?
This is a tough situation, but not impossible. Many properties allow only one eviction, but we do have properties that will accept more than one. They sometimes require one of the debts to be paid in full.

Will I have to live in a second chance property forever?

No! As you pay your rent each month, your credit will improve. At the same time, more and more months and years will pass from your past criminal and financial mistakes. After a few years, you’ll be able to rent anywhere you’d like!
